Scientists from Tuebingen discover the Brain Regions responsible for Self Awareness
GERMAN SCIENCE FORUM: Alright – the mentioned honourable academic scholar can destroy the little housefly in one strike,
PETER HUEBNER: ... but the same can do the lion, bear, tiger and elephant with him too – only to name a few. And his relics of artificial civilisation: titles, offices and financial standing are of no use to him, too, when the mentioned ‘animals’ attack – and in the very same way probably Almighty Nature sees this too.
“The body is the
form of the soul.” Kant
“The problems of this world can not be solved by sceptics or cynics, whose horizon is limited by the prevailing reality.
We need men,
which are able to dream of possibilities,
that have never been there.” John F. Kennedy
And that this is true, incorruptible witnesses prove.
GERMAN SCIENCE FORUM: The innumerable crises, by which our so-called ‘civilised world’ is shaken due to the wretched achievements in education of the scientific universities and the colleges and schools fertilized by them.
“There is only one misery
and that is ignorance.” Thornton Wilder
“A painful truth is
better than a lie.” Thomas Mann
PETER HUEBNER: Also with the term of the ‘other animals’ the ‘normal’ experienced scientist of that so-called ‘civilised world’ has to be happy – for as seen from the standpoint of ‘consciousness’ Almighty Nature logically puts him under this heading.
“To reach to the source
you have to swim against the current.” Konfucius
If he does not like this position of the ‘animal’ and therefore wants to leave it – for what I have great sympathy–, then he has to endeavour straight away for further main states of consciousness.
“The deeper the scientist looks,
the more he sees himself.” Werner Heisenberg Nobel Laureate in Physics
PETER HUEBNER: Neither the housefly, nor the mentioned wild and non-wild animals have this possibility:
“The brain is not only a vessel,
which must be filled,
but a fire,
which wants to be kindled.” Plutarch
Only in regard to the potential of developing further main states of consciousness he distinguishes himself from them all. This should console him, to begin with.
It was the Greek philosopher Plato, who early enough drew the attention of the scientists to this big essential and existential problem of theirs by demanding:
“The sciences should only be taught,
inasmuch they contribute to aligning the soul to the higher existence, to the eternally true ideas.
Only if they do this, they should be taught.” Plato
